An Unconventional Beauty

derelictstreet2008
derelict012009

These 2 images are a bit thought-provoking.
Not conventionally pretty I still find beauty
in them. The beauty isn't obvious it is subtle.

Hope that you enjoy these images.

Have a love-all-that-is-familiar
kind of day.

Golden Sunrise

shot#1may112009
shot#2may112009

These sunrise images were taken when on the way to photograph
somewhere/something else.
I almost had a car accident when I saw these images because I stopped
so suddenlyand swerved off the road to take the shots.
My scanner doesn't do them justice. The hard copies of these images on
photographic paper show a golden glow to the sky and water that looks like liquid gold.
These images prompted me to think of the work of Nova Scotia artist Suezan Aikins.
She paints with gold leaf for some of her work and these images on photographic
paper look like her gold leaf paintings. See her work at http://www.suezan-aikins.com/
The sudden apprehension of these 2 shots takes the act of noticing. This is part
of the reward of photography. The eye develops so that when we are
in the world we notice vignettes of beauty or of interest to be photographed.
Have a noticing-the-beauty-around-you kind of day.

Seeing beauty

magnoliainbud012009

I think that a common thread runs through my interests
in interior design, art and photography. The common thread
is seeing beauty.

It is rewarding to share what I see with others.
I am also gradually learning that those who view my work
respond with their own associations and memories and responses.

Of my recent work a colleague writes "Thanks to you I am noticing
how nature is slowly unfolding this spring, more so than
I did in previous years. Each stage has its own particular
beauty. Thank-you for reminding us of that. That is the
gift you are giving your community right now in a very
real way".

In today's blog I share a beautiful image of a stack of fabric
seen in an advertisement in a top interior decorating
magazine. As well, I share some further images of
a magnolia tree in bud. I hope that you see the beauty in
these images.
