Fall geraniums 2011

Fallgeraniums2011

Dear Everyone:

I took this picture at a charming

house in an older part of town.

The house also had window boxes

full of flowers and a side garden.

Just a pleasant shot.

Summer'sclose#72010

Summer'sclose#82010

Dear Everyone:

Shot these Easter lilies on
the same day as I shot the
hydrangea.

Signs of fall are arriving.
Advertisements for
fall clothes, the fall issue
of Vogue, and registering
for fall courses.

Hope you enjoy these shots.
Tried to not rely entirely for the
most part on single bloom shots.
Wanted a 3D effect again.

Summer'sclose#32010

Dear Everyone:

Summer continues to
fade away on us as time
zips by. Mornings are getting
cooler now.

Hydrangea always signal
fall to me.

Here are 3 kind of edgy shots
of hydrangea.

I am really pleased with them.
Especially with the 3D depth effect.

Enjoy.

Pleasing Images 2010

Wstfloral#12010
Roomblue#12010

Dear Everyone:

Have 2 pleasing images to share.
I am caught up staring at them.

The first is my photo of a plant at the entry
of a home in a local neighbourhood.
It looks like an orchid but I am unfamiliar
with it and don't know the name.
I love the horizontal stripes of
the siding in the background
and the light coming in through
the window.

The second image is off a blog.
A pleasing dining room.
The table is sort of industrial
and a bit rustic. The chairs are
uber-modern. The blue in
the abstract painting is terrific.
All topped off with a glamourous chandelier.

See what you think.

Petunia Study I 2010

Petuniastudy#12010

Dear Everyone:

Spotted this striking type of
petunia at a private home.
Returned the following day to
photograph it with the permission
of the owner.

May do some paintings of
these flowers, as well.
The colour combination,
lime green and fuchsia, is so unusual

Dear Everyone:

Just a collection of images relating
to the Something Blue theme.
The Queen's Annes lace
are lacy like wedding finery.
"Something old. Something new.
Something borrowed. Something blue".
Enjoy.

Day Lily Study I 2010

Daylilyphotoreference#12010
Daylilystudy#12010

Dear Everyone:

This year finds me fascinated
with daylilies. They grow profusely
in local gardens-wild and cultivated
spaces.

I decided to start a series on them
and so this is the first entry in
the series.

Doesn't the bloom almost
look like an orchid?

Enjoy.

Dear Everyone:

Almost overlooked this image.

It is quite attractive.

Enjoy.

Daylily Mix 2010

Daylilymix#12010
Daylilymix#22010

Dear Everyone:

Daylilies remain blooming
profusely everywhere.

Took these images in bright
daylight. I usually shoot
early morning when the light
is softer and more diffuse so
these shots are a departure for me.

As a result, these images tend
to glow.

Enjoy.

Dear Everyone:

I combined leopard spots
and a band of emerald green
to set off this stylized day lily.

The day lily came from my own
photo reference.

Hope that you enjoy this image.

Dear Everyone:

Identified 2 more images in

and a path through or
edged by lavender.

Hope you enjoy these images.

Dear Everyone:

What struck me in these images
was the bounty, the mass of flowers.

It is the season for daylilies and
every where I looked I came
across them.

Hope that you
enjoy these images.

Peonymix#2june2010

Dear Everyone:

I tend to scrutinze my surroundings
closely when I am driving
scanning for shots for photography.

These 2 images are of peonies
from a private garden.

They were falling forward
against a picket fence and quite
charming.

Hope that you enjoy them.

Dream images 2010

dreamimage#12010
dreamimage#22010

dreamimage#32010

dreamimage#42010

Dear Everyone:

Found inspiration in a few images.
Like a mood board.

A beautiful model with
a petite figure, a striking face,
and gorgeous hair. Long and straight
golden brown hair with bangs.

A photograph of a
dining room in Provence
shown in Veranda August 2010.
All in shades of burlap and kraft
paper brown.

And a white garden with tree bark
and shots of yellow.

I refer to them as dream images.
Hope you enjoy them.

Helen.
