Iconic Treetrunk at Sunrise revisited
Dear Everyone:
This tree is my favourite image
of my work. I thought I would
post it again in current postings
to keep it in the forefront.
Nothing to remark about
it other than the fact that I
love the combination of colours.
I took some risks with this piece. So a revisit to this image.

Iconic Tree trunk at Sunrise 2009
Well. I returned to my 3rd photo
of a tree trunk and did another sketch.
I wanted to use red with the blue and tan.
Instead the image took off in a different
direction towards an interpretation
of the tree trunk at sunrise.
I must say that I particularly enjoyed
the choice and selection of paint colours
for this image.
See what you think.
I sort of see it as a store logo.
Or stitched as a pattern
for a leather handbag.
Have a return-to-it-if
-it-is-bugging you kind of day.

November sunrise 2009
Novembertriptych2009Capturing this sunrise was serendipity.
I was on my way to try and capture trees
with sparse leaves and spotted the sun
shining through clouds early yesterday
morning. I pulled a fast righthand turn
and practically ran to capture the image
as sunrise configurations are fleeting.
When I got home and printed the images
out they were even stronger than I
recognized at the scene. So I am very
pleased with the results.
As luck would have it I couldn't find
a tree with sparse leaves of the
description I wanted
and came up empty in that regard.
So pure serendipity.
Doing photography means seeing
your surroundings as shots to capture.
I am generally always alert
to shots.
Have a hope-serendipity-finds-
you kind of day.

Radiant Sunrise 2009
radiantsunrise2009Well. I have decided that I am
fascinated by sunrises.
The colours to be found in sunrises
are extraordinary.
Ideal for me as I love playing with colour
whether it is decorating or folk art I
am working on.
Hope that you enjoy today's images.
Have a made-it-through-the first-week-of-
September-kind of day.
Helen.

Golden Sunrise
shot#1may112009
shot#2may112009These sunrise images were taken when on the way to photograph
somewhere/something else.
I almost had a car accident when I saw these images because I stopped
so suddenlyand swerved off the road to take the shots.
My scanner doesn't do them justice. The hard copies of these images on
photographic paper show a golden glow to the sky and water that looks like liquid gold.
These images prompted me to think of the work of Nova Scotia artist Suezan Aikins.
She paints with gold leaf for some of her work and these images on photographic
paper look like her gold leaf paintings. See her work at http://www.suezan-aikins.com/
The sudden apprehension of these 2 shots takes the act of noticing. This is part
of the reward of photography. The eye develops so that when we are
in the world we notice vignettes of beauty or of interest to be photographed.
Have a noticing-the-beauty-around-you kind of day.
Helen.
