Trees at the Citadel 2012

Treesatcitadel2012

Dear Everyone:

When I am driving I am constantly

looking for and seeing shots

as I drive-by.

I saw this shot of 5 trees

and thought it looked like

a British landscape painting.

I am pleased with how the shot

turned out.

Enjoy.

Helen.

Woodland photo 2011

Woodlandphoto2011

Dear Everyone:

I spotted this shot while out driving.

And stopped to take this photograph.

The location is in the middle

of a residential area.

I am quite pleased with it.

See what you think.

Tree and rock 2010

Treeandrock2010

Dear Everyone:

This image is tough to explain.

I think it represents simplicity.

My work recently is about capturing
a kind of soothing, even spiritual
beauty.

When looking at this photo I
think objects we believe to
be inanimate such as rocks
actually have an energy
of their own.

Hope that you enjoy this image.

Helen.

Woodland 2010

iconicstump2010

Dear Everyone:

This Spring the charm of woodlands
has assailed me.

I find trees to be magical.
Lichen and moss. Fallen leaves.
Wildflowers. Tree trunks and stumps.

Am pursuing a burgeoning
interest in land conservation.

This image speaks to this interest.

Hope you enjoy it.

Have a consider-your-legacy-kind of day.

Dear Everyone:

Will spend the next few days
developing Valentine's images.
Sketched 3 images today and
painted one of them.

hearts for Valentine's. It
symbolizes long-lasting love
and growing together.

image.

Have a contented-kind-of-

Tree medley 2010

themagicoftrees032010n
treemedley2010

As hoped I painted an abstract
from one of my "the magic of trees"
photographs.

The shapes and lines are quite
good. The colour works.

See what you think.
Have a generous-hearted day
today.

Here are the second trio of pictures
of trees. Here trunks and branches
dominate.

Hope that you enjoy these images.

The Magic of Trees I 2010

themagicoftrees012010n
themagicoftrees022010n

themagicoftrees032010n

These photos are from a few days ago.
The images I include in today's
posting feature dogwood and branches
in a tangle. The 3rd image
almost looks like an abstract
painting and I may try to paint it.

Othe artists struck by trees include
Ansel Adams, and Georgia O'Keefe.

I hope that you enjoy these images.

Have an attend-to-details-kind
of day.

Architectural Digest - 2 images

I read several interior decor magazines.
I don't always buy Architectural Digest
but I did pick up the January, 2010
issue.

There are 2 images from the pages
of the magazine that struck me.

The first image is of an airy
white apartment in Beirut with 4 pictures
of trees suspended on wires in
the living room (see p. 89).
Architecture-Kohn Pedersen Fox.
Interior Design -Joe Serrins Studio.
The trees remind me of my recent
tree trunk series. The second
aspect of this apartment that
struck me was the large relief map
made of gypsum plaster forming the ceiling.

The second image that struck me
was of a patterned fabric on a sofa
in a client's wood-panelled library (p.163).
The colour reminded me of a paint
colour I often use called "hydrangea
pink" and it is just this side of peach.
The sofa fabric looks Persian and
is from Stark. Interior Design-
Hein and Cozzi.

Hope that you enjoy these
images.

Have a stay-open-to-your
environment kind of day.

Golden Trees III

fallarches2009

Happened to see this shot and didn't have my camera with me.

Back-tracked and got the camera and drove back again
returning to get the shot.

The sunlight illuminated the golden yellow in a
canopy of arching branches. I recklessly stood
in the middle of the road to get the composition
I wanted.

Funny, fall shots keep presenting themselves
to me.

Have an always-pay-attention kind of day.

Helen.
