Dear Everyone:

Returned downtown at 7:00 a.m.
in the morning to capture more
shots. It was peaceful and quiet
for the most part.

Really pleased with these
images. Hope you enjoy them.

Dear Everyone:

I find Buddhism attractive
because it is contemplative.
I find gazing upon the
face of the buddha to be soothing.
Here are some buddhist images.

Two New Pieces 2010

Yellowwallflowertriptych2010
Photocollage#22010

Dear Everyone:

I have two new pieces to show
you.

The first is my wallflower
series. The term wallflower
refers to being personally
sidelined by illness.

In this piece I use my own
photograph of a dahlia as a backdrop.
Laid the backdrop on a horizontal
surface like a table or desk,
scattered fresh cut flowers
across the image and photographed it.

The yellow flowers beckoned to me
at the grocery store florist section
and this dahlia backdrop spoke to
me for this piece. The yellow flowers
glowed like sunshine.

The wallflower images are
shown in a triptych with some
text. The text is from a recent
photograph of a storefront with
text covering the surface of the
window.

The second piece is a collage
using mostly my own photographs.
I will be taking some art courses
this fall which teach collage
so I am looking forward to learning
more.

Hope you enjoy these images.

Dear Everyone:

I grew up with horses.

My younger sister has a horse farm
in adulthood. She is a veterinarian
so this is a perfect set-up for her.

Whenever I go downtown
I check to see if the horses
are out at this stables
and they were this day.

After, a rocky start
where they all walked away
to see an employee on a
cigarette break they
wandered back in sight
and I got some good shots.
Hope you enjoy these images.

Doorway 2010

Dear Everyone:

This doorway stood out as looking
a bit derelict despite being in
a wealthy neighbourhood.

I appreciate the artistry of this
shot.

Hope you enjoy this image.

Downtown graffitti post-script 2010

Dear Everyone:

I have been reading books on graffitti-
here are some of the traditions and language.

One of the ways to gain fame as a
graffitti artist is to get your name
out in high volume called "bombing"
(quantity). The other route to
recognition is to have a very skilled
or artistic style called "burning"
(quality).

Simply writing one's name is called
a "tag". Names are adopted like
blade, and taki, and cope 2.

For a long period the New York
writers painted subway cars
but the transit authority introduced
counter measures so eventually
the artists moved to the streets to
surfaces like walls and bridges and vehicles.

A multi-artist mural is called
a "production".

As a sign of respect it is
considered unsuitable to write
over someone else's name or work.

It is customary for artists
to steal their spray paint
called "racking".

Well, I thought I'd share
some of the customs and
language.

Dear Everyone:

Stumbled across this graffitti
while running an errand downtown.

I believe graffitti is an art
form with it's own customs
and language. There
are star graffitti artists who
have achieved recognition
and fame.

Hope that you enjoy
these images.
