Autumn Crocus 2012
Dear Everyone:
The layperson's term for this flower
is Autumn crocus.
It flowers in Autumn and is somewhat larger
than the crocuses we typically see in the Spring.
An acquaintance called capturing this shot
serendipity and I agree it is a great shot.
See what you think.

Woman with Pumpkin 2012
Dear Everyone:
This is the latest entry into
my pumpkin series.
This series stands out for its whimsy.
Not quite humour. More playfulness.

Maple swirl 2012
Dear Everyone:
I am reviewing and editing shots of
fall leaves I took early last week.
This shot seems almost magical.
A single image of a maple leaf
emerges amongst a swirl of colour
and motion.
fallmix#32012
I hope you enjoy this shot.

Fall Tilted 2012
Dear Everyone:
This is a classic shot of trees with
fall colours and a bend in the road
tilted.
I am pretty pleased with the effect.

Durability Poem 2012
DURABILITY POEM
You take me at my word
I often don't need to explain
myself with you
Is it trust or telepathy?
Familiarity
We can speak in shorthand
Count the years
It is exactly 20
We have grown together
You have some exciting projects
under your belt
I am working trying to keep
up with my creativity
Should we toast a glass of
sparkling wine to 20 more
I'm in it for the duration
Are you?
I'll make sure you don't
run out of poems to read
You can keep me smiling
Helen.

Pattern Play 2012
Dear Everyone:
The charm of this shot crept up on me.
It is quite subtle.
If you study it there is pattern, texture
and interplay of colour. The foliage
acts as a lacy screen. Only a slice
of the tree trunks is visible.

Oak Leaves 2012
Dear Everyone:
I truly enjoyed taking these shots of oak
leaves being blown around by a strong wind.
The best part was the resulting photographs
turned out exactly as I visualized them
while shooting them. The blurred out-of-focus
effect is purposeful for instance.

Skull with pumpkins 2012
Dear Everyone:
This is the latest entry to my pumpkin
series.
The (deer) skull was inspired by one
displayed in an interior decorating magazine.
Pairing the skull with pumpkins is pure whimsy.

Candid girl 2012
Dear Everyone:
I went out with my camera today hoping
to capture some shots of people in
the community.
I succeeded handily with this candid
shot of a young woman.

Winter poem 2012
My most recent poem:
WINTER
My hand unwillingly writes out the date
as the months progress toward Winter
Winter- the final season of the year
and Winter-the final season of my life
I resist the dates
Can I hold on longer to one more day
One more day of several
Try to stretch out each single day
for as long as possible
Feel remorse for time not well-spent
Does remorse visit more often
as one gets older
A life in review
Perhaps new resolutions now
would allow the remorse to dissipate
Why wait 'til New Year's
to set those resolutions
I resolve to spend my time more wisely
Writing this poem is a start
Helen.

Halloween #1 2012
Dear Everyone:
The image of this witch for
Halloween sprung straight
from my imagination.
I pictured her and wanted
to convey a crooked face
under a peaked hat.
This was conveyed.
Enjoy.

Fall poem 2012
Dear Everyone:
We just had torrential rain for about
a week. It was dark and chilly
with the rain. A chat with
a neighbour inspired this poem.
FALL
A month early
Winds raging it feels like November
when it is actually October
Rain and fog another overcast sky
Snowbirds dream of heading South
Daylight seems fleeting
Wake up in the pitch dark
Hear the rain pounding on the roof
A type of day to stay cosily inside
Lost the urge to hurl oneself
outside like Summer
Fall- an apt term as we fall
into darkness
Call it Fall-Call it Autumn-
it arrived with a vengeance
