I often paint images of

models from fashion magazines.

I call these paintings model portraits.

Today's model portrait is of a young

woman with an angular almost stern

or severe face. She has pronounced

cheekbones. She is still a beauty however.

Dear Everyone:

My mother's favourite colour

used to be blue.

I have just learned that

she now favours green.

All shades of green.

This inspired a mother's day

card featuring many shades

of green. I had several

shades of green

acrylic paint on hand.

Hence I enjoyed

doing the card.

Spring carpet trio 2011

Springcarpettrio2011 Dear Everyone: This store sells Persian rugs near my home. They also have a selection of less expensive machine-made rugs. Every business day they hang the rugs out to display. This photo captures a trio of rugs on a rock wall. Either hung out to display or hung out to dry after being cleaned. This photograph makes me think of travelling-perhaps to a town with hills on the Meditterranean. In his book, Kaffe Fassett hung out quilts on the rock walls of Malta to display his handiwork and the book (Kaffe Fassett's Kaleidoscope of Quilts) has a similiar feel to this shot. Enjoy. Helen.

Am recovering from a bad cold.

Worked up 2 Mother's Day

greeting cards this morning.

Something blue was inspired

by a page in a fashion magazine

featuring only blue items.

I wanted to use indigo and aqua.

The African mother and child

were inspired by seeing African

models also in fashion magazines.
