Spring mix 2010
springmix012010

Dear Everyone:
Just a few shots of spring.
Saw the beautiful tulips and couldn't believe
how attractive the pink markings were.
They almost look like they were splashed
with paint.
There are forget me nots everywhere.
Liked the emerging maple leaves
against the vertical tree trunks.
Hope you enjoy these images.

Father's Day (radiant sun) 2010
father'sday(radiantsun)2010
Dear Everyone:
This is the second image of
my father's day images.
I kept on seeing sunburst
mirrors in top decorating
magazines. Perhaps the influence
of the top decorator and set designer,
the late Tony Duquette. So I decided
to sketch and paint a sunburst.
The painterliness of the image
with the multiple colours of
the sun just came to me
and so I enjoyed the
making the work.
Hope that you enjoy
this image.

Beach cottage 2010
Beachcottagejune2010
This month's issue of Canadian House and Home
featured a 1,000 square foot lakefront cottage
done all in shades of white, cream and beige.
The owner held the dream for 2.5 years
before realizing it and saved alot of items
in storage during that period in preparation
for the day she owned a cottage.
She is apparently a stylist with clients
like Ikea and Indigo and Holt Renfrew
and from her work with this cottage
certainly seems talented.
See page 62 for the story of the June 2010
issue of Canadian House and Home.
It is a dream-inspiring beachy-looking
decor.

Rock portrait #9 2010
rockportrait#92010
Dear Everyone:
This is the latest in my series
of still life paintings of rocks.
The rocks were collected from a local
beach. I brought home bags of rocks
planning to paint the actual rocks.
Somewhat chastened I found them to
be too beautiful in their natural state
to paint and so decided to create
paintings of them rather than
painting them and covering
their beauty.
I select various rocks and
arrange them into still lifes
which I then paint.
The paintings of them are somewhat
stylized which was my goal.
Hope that you enjoy this image.
Helen.
